About Steven Haas
Steve became seriously interested in art in the tenth grade. During his senior year of high school, he was assigned a mobile project that, he says, was the birth of his lifetime fascination.
Throughout the 70's and into the 80's, Steve made small-scale mobiles out of various materials. In the mid 80's, he acquired tools that allowed him to locate a balance point on a vertical surface, allowing him to develop his âintegratedâ mobile style. His unique approach uses arcs or freehand cut forms that suggest birds, trees, fish, flames, or other more abstract designs. His current material of choice is textured aircraft-grade aluminum.
Steve has made mobiles full time since 1991. His studio is in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
