About Steve DeSpirito

Steve DeSpirito has been fascinated with creating hanging mobiles for more than five years. He loves the challenge of designing each new piece. His work is colorful and light–both figuratively and literally. Each of Steve's harmonious designs are personally hand crafted of high-quality materials ranging from thin plywood sheet to EVA plastic foam, making them lightweight enough to allow for plenty of movement.

"My hanging sculptures are ever-changing works of art," Steve says. "The delicate balance between gravity and the gentle currents in the air around us cause the pieces to twist and bend, appearing to give them a life of their own. They are constantly redefining not only the positive shape of the art itself, but the negative spaces that surround the sculpture. I like to think of my work as a reminder that, although life is ever changing, one can always find beauty and joy in it. All one needs to do is stay balanced and bend slightly with the breeze."

Steve's work hangs in locations across America (including Hawaii and Alaska), as well as France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Denmark. He has even created a mobile used on the set of a major motion picture. Steve lives in a small town near Madison, Wisconsin with his wife and three children.
