About Q3 Art
Chicago-based husband-wife team Marvin and Michelle Shafer are the artists behind Q3 Art. For nearly 20 years, the Shafers have created unique mobiles, clocks, jewelry, wine-glass markers, and plant art in their trademark whimsical style from hand-dyed anodized aluminum.
Instead of just buying pre-anodized colored sheets, Q3 actually fabricates, textures, and polishes each component prior to the coloring process. Anodizing is an electroletic process through which the surface of the aluminum becomes a tough, porous sponge, allowing dye to soak into the surface.
Q3 Art is featured in many galleries across the country.
