About Adrift Mobiles
Brian Schmitt started building mobiles as a personal creative outlet while studying industrial design over a decade ago. In 2005, he launched Adrift Mobiles, his collection of unique, modern mobiles. Over the last several years, he has expanded this collection and recently released a line of pendant lamps. The lighting marks the introduction of his parent brand, Schmitt Design.
Brian strives to produce mobiles that add a captivating, yet quiet, personality to an environment. These mobiles showcase Brian's minimalist aesthetic, craftsmanship and interest in sustainable materials. His current materials of choice are bamboo and wood, which he bends into gently curved forms.
In addition to his collection of small-scale mobiles, Brian has produced a number of unique large-scale and site-specific mobiles. His mobiles have been installed in a wide spectrum of environments, from the Polo Home store in Beverly Hills to the Burning Man arts festival.
